MEDICARE INSURANCE
Medicare Supplement Insurance (also called Medigap) are health insurance policies sold by private insurance companies to help fill the gaps in Original Medicare Coverage (like co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles). All carriers have “standardized” policies identified by letters A through N. You have the freedom to choose any doctor who accepts Medicare patients.
Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D) is available for everyone with Medicare. You may have to pay a monthly premium but Medicare pays a large part of the cost. Medicare Advantage Plans (HMO or PPO) are also ways to get Medicare benefits at a lower cost. These are not Medicare Supplement insurance plans and can offer Part D Prescription Drug Coverage. All plans offer maximum out of pocket protections which are lower than Original Medicare.
